Is there a way to preset exterior window colors ie. black other than in 3D mode one at a time.

Thanks,

Mike

You can set the materials and save them so all openings inherit the color of your choosing by loading that saved material file. Instead of changing it at the individual opening level go to the materials button in the tool bar, and select/highlight "Openings" and make the changes there. If inherit is checked every opening should use that material selection. If you find they are not you may need to check that each opening is set to "inherit" the "opening" material choice.

If you set all your exterior openings to be clad you can have 1 color for the exterior frame and one for the interior. Unfortunately SP does not differentiate between inside and outside of door sticking or panels. So, you only get one choice for those. When you get the colors you want all set be sure to save your material file so you can just load it the next time you model something new. If it needs adjustment afterward, either save and replace the original or save as a new material file for the particular project. Then, you can keep going and save another version for as many scenarios as you want.

In a 3d view, go to the "Options" tab at the top and then click on the "Material" icon. Once you're in the "Material Texture Edit" dialog box, click on the "Openings". In the area below CTRL click on  all the parts of the window that you want to change the color of (typically Bead, Framing, Glazing Style,Sash and Trim). Once everything you want to change the color is select, click on the "Display Color" and pick the color you want. Finally click on the "OK button at the bottom right of the dialog box. Since you have changed the color at the root level, any window you now add will be that color.
