Hi all,

I'm looking for trips/tricks to clean up these soffits. How I put it together as different roof planes is very chopped up/messy - so I'm not surprised it turned out this way. Criticism welcome!

Thank you!

Derk

Sometimes it is best to turn off soffits and either create another roof, set it with a shorter heel height and cut holes where you don't want to see the roof. Or, draw a ceiling and do the same, adjusting the offsets to get what you want. Softplan does not model soffits correctly on very simple roofs. Complicated roofs are super problematic as you see. Another option which sometimes can work is to draw a profile while in 3D view and select the correct surface to reference. I find that to have mixed results as well though. Often I resort to drawing a ceiling and un-checking clean up, then adjusting to just inside of the fascia.

I hadn't done profiles in 3D before! Thanks for the tip, Mark. Is there a way to clip the corner? Attached File  profile.JPG   52.87KB   0 downloads

The best thing is to continue the profile down the next wall or all the way along until it can end at a good transition point. Unfortunately it will only reference the initial plane to start and itself. From what I understand the profile drawn is not easily modified once placed.
