I was just trying to change the texture of a light fixture and couldn't see on the preview what I was changing ... it appears that the preview no longer works, and if the items you are trying to change don't have a really specific description then you can't tell what you are changing. This worked fine in 2016, but appears to be broken in 2018.

Running a test on a Ford 150 3D symbol - Changing the colour from Red to Red-Violet I get this is 2016 ...

and this in 2018 ...

It's really difficult to change colours if you can't see what you are changing.

Is it just me, or is it broken?

Bump ....

Just trying to change the default textures on a fridge ... No matter what I do, NOTHING WORKS. I have changed ALL the textures to STAINLESS STEEL, but the fridge remains stubbornly black. Is this just me, or is anyone else having problems editing symbol textures. The symbol is the GE-Apppliances > Side-By-Side Refrigerator with Dispenser 03.skp.

Is this me, or is anyone else experiencing this issue.

Yes same here. I edited one and changed the surface from Display Color to Display Texture (stainless) and in the 3D, when I edit the surface, it's still set to Display Color and even if I edit it to Display Texture, it doesn't bring back the stainless.

I wish that when creating a symbol and assigning colors or modifying an existing symbol that the surface of the items would highlight in the preview when selecting the layer to make it easier to see what you're doing instead of (when it works) having to change the color and sometime spinning the symbol to find what a layer refers to.

Apparently, technical support CANNOT reproduce the issue, and have suggested that I update all my video drivers. I'm in the process of doing that now.

Video drivers updated and Softplan set to use the Nvidia drivers.

It's no use. No matter what I do, I can't edit the textures on any of the symbols ... or at least the ones I've tried, but I've tried a few.

Correction:

I DO seem to be able to edit the textures on 3D symbols that I've created. The standard ones that were brought over from 2016 seem to be locked.

EDIT:

Okay, I've managed to change the texture on ONE symbol ... Don't know what's different on that one, but others I've created are also locked ... AARRRGGHHHH <BANGING HEAD ON WALL>

If I manage to get a fix for this, I suspect I'm going to get some really bizarre colours on some of my models ...

Let me be clear here: Since one of my colleagues did something I didn't expect ... I CAN edit the colours by surface editing an item in my drawing. However the fridge in question is ALL black, and I was trying to edit the default textures on the fridge by editing the symbol in the System Library. That I CAN'T do. Which means having to surface edit it EVERY time it's used.

Technical Support have confirmed that this is a known problem, and that it has already been forwarded onto their development team further review.
