Educational Installation FAQs

Why do I have two keys for my Educational installation?

One key is labeled 'Master Key' and the other is labeled ‘Registration Key.’ Both keys which make up a pair will have a matching key number also on the label. The Master Key will need to be installed on a system anywhere within the network. It is suggested that the key be on a system such as a teacher station or in a server room. If the Master key is not installed, none of the workstations will be able to open SoftPlan. The Registration Key is used to add individual WorkStations to the registration list of the Master Key. The number of licenses is controlled by this list and any WorkStation on the network that is operational needs to be registered.

Where do I install the Master Key Manager?

Install the Master Key Manager Software where you intend to install the Master Key. This installation is required before any WorkStations can be registered. We recommend that the Master Key be installed on a computer with a fixed IP address for best performance. It must be on the same subnet as the computers accessing it.
