What is use of clip to roof for beams?

Someone will chime in with a reason....my question is why is it defaulted to ON.

I'll take a guess - When you draw a beam that is in an attic or upper floor system on a 1.5 story house, the last thing you need is the beam to cut through and project out of the roof surface. So, a very convenient way to cut the end of the beam. That said, I don't believe I've ever used it. So, I turn it off all the time.

Ah   I get it, I normally only use beams on porches,  thanks

 

Default to no would be nice.

porch beams here 99% of the time also.  maybe change the default settings
