Well, I have never heard the definitive answer on how to show the wall framing and Interior finishes, drywall etc when the Gable end material is provided by the roof edge?

Either fit wall to roof option (balloon framed wall) or stack wall on top of lower, offset up and fit to roof.

Design like you would frame it.

According to SP Tech, the studs drywall and other finishes are not apart of the GABLE END WALL assembly that is provided when you chose for the Roof ....this feature is for 3D Exterior convivence I assume.....So as Steve and Calla mentioned above...design it like you build it ..

The gable wall material would not include studs and interior drywall if it was a truss roof with a flat ceiling. We don't use those very often around here, so setting the wall to fit to roof is most often what we use.

I wouldn't expect to have framing and drywall etc. when the "Gable End is Provided by the Roof" ... It is what it says ... ROOF.

Right Keith. When framing with trusses (most often) the gable truss creates the frame for the gable wall siding. Only thing is most of the time (for us at least), the gable truss will be covered with sheathing, housewrap, and siding. Softplan does not exactly frame those gable ends that way. So, it is still not an accurate representation of "how it's built" (at least around here).

It would also be built with a gable end truss here as well if stacking over same wall height as common truss bearing ends. If interior truses are scissored, ie; 8/4 etc some will place the gable end truss and then frame inside of

it to the interior wall line up to the , in example, 4/12 vaulted line. In example above I was assuming a vaulted, possibly all hand framed roof with the exterior rake wall framed to the bottom of the lookouts forming the overhang

if an overhang exists. Any way it is done the gable end provided by the roof is strictly exterior cosmetic filler which serves minimal purpose other than to look pretty.
