Does anyone have a detail for an STC rating of 50 for an existing 2x8 floor system? Acceptable in Canada?

Assuming you have looked at SB-3.

Assuming you have looked at SB-3.

Yes, the sentences at the end of the section only list 2x10. Sentence (12) to be specific. All the F assemblies in SB-3 have (12) beside them.

As it turns out, OBC 2024 addresses this in existing construction through Compliance Alternatives, C181, allows for 6" of absorptive material in the joist cavity.

We can use OBC 2024 now if we choose and it comes into fill effect Jan 1 2025, so that's our compliance.

Thanks Fred, I took a quick look through that and couldn't find anything for 2x8 floor joists.
