Hi

You can draw a dashed line at 0 width and it looks like a dashed line - but how can I draw a dashed line where the dashes are thicker and maintain the gap - as soon as I give the line any thickness it becomes solid regardless of style scale?

I think you can just edit the line and then edit the "line style" and pick a dashed line

No that doesn't work ... Once you add a width to the line it becomes solid.

Pen weights are the way to go. Basically a thickened line has a solid or shaded continuous fill no matter what the border (line style) is.
