These texture look cool thank you Jim!  dumb question.......about 8 image files show up per texture, any idea how to add them or which ones to add to SP.  I don't use SP textured or retraced modes very often due to the lack of realism.

Joe,

I'd use the "Diffuse with Shadows" version. I put mine in In a "Lightbeans" directory under the Softplan 2024 > 3D > Textures > Bitmaps directory

There are 10 types of people in this world ....... Those who understand binary, and those who don't.

To add Custom Textures to your SoftPlan folder, go to 'SoftPlan', then navigate to 3D, Textures, Bitmaps. This folder is where you will add your texture to either an existing folder or you can create a new one in your File Explorer to store all your custom textures.

SoftPlan does not treat textures the same way as other programs. These textures are offered with 8 different image files since some may be displacement maps, bump maps, etc. but SoftPlan does not have current support for PBR Materials. I would look at your textures and choose one that closely resembles a picture of the texture with the most accurate color data. Usually, this image is labeled as Base Color or Diffuse Map. SoftPlan has their own Relief Depth sliders that automatically calculate the "depth", but it will not be depth data from a PBR material. Reflectivity is also simulated inside SoftPlan. To get a somewhat accurate use of PBR textures, you will have to use this method for SoftPlan since it does not support import of extended PBR file types to control depth, reflection, etc; only represents an image import.

I also like how the website shows Official support for SoftPlan. It's great to see the recognition. I also see a familiar manufacturer like Western States Metal Roofing which I will take great benefit in using for my projects.

I hope we get full support for PBR materials inside SoftPlan in a future update since we are finally switched to DirectX12.
