Hello,

I had questions regarding AIBD/CPBD process and am in need of advice. I have been drafting plans for several years. Primarily, conceptual and construction. I worked for my step-father while in high school in residential construction. I spent most of my high school and college breaks around residential and commercial construction. I have a bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology. I have worked for Civil Engineering firms for the last 8 years.

The advice or help I need is what would be an appropriate pathway to be certified? I have not worked for an architect, and wouldn’t really consider my construction experience as verifiable from the design standpoint. I love residential design and as mentioned have been doing so for several years, but would like to step out into becoming certified and possibly my own firm. Thanks.
