I was attempting to search for this topic, but the keywords I could think of were not catching. So, time to cut to the chase, and my apologies if this issue is a redundant one.

I currently have 15 drawings in multidrawing mode - ranging from assembled plans in model to elevation line drawings to simple borders. The issue is simple but infuriating: if I move anything, alter anything, or place anything (in any mode; drawing, electrical, roof, etc.), the viewport whites out. My windows and toolbars remain. To immediately regain the view, I simply have to zoom in or out, pan, or undo. Doing nothing will not result in the gradual return of the drawings, though.

Now, stripping things down and working on a single drawing at a time - no multi - prevents this from happening.

So is this blinking of my viewport simply a processing issue, or do I have some sort of setting on that is causing it?

Thank you for any insight you may have,

Soren

Sounds like a video issue to me, but it's not something I've seen before. What video card are you using?

If you're running version 2014 or later, have you considered trying Plan Sets? I know that doesn't fix your problem, but I recently switched over from Multi Drawings and I think Plan Sets are much easier to work with and manage once you get setup and used to using them.

I have been using Plan Sets and I have found that in some instances when I drag a drawing over from Navigation to the page then it will white out the entire page. If I save, close and open it is all there and i can work with it. Not sure if this is a video card thing or just a problem when I am bringing in particularly complex drawings. Mostly happens to me with elevation drawings which I do not render my elevation but still draw with lines, openings and paints. Does not happen often but does happen.

Keith - I'm running an NVIDIA GeForce 210. Definitely not top-of-the-line, but well suited to my needs.

Plan Sets has not crossed my mind - perhaps it is time! The trickiest part will be getting my coworkers to bite!

Softplan 2016 is quite hungry as regards video processing. It would be my guess that the card is a little underpowered for Softplan's needs, thus creating the "white out" conditions that you are experiencing. Softplan do recommend gaming spec. video cards. I would suggest that you ask technical support their advice. You could try making sure the drivers are up to date, but that could lead to other issues, so your call.

Fair enough. It's certainly not surprising, and thank you for the advice. As far as drivers go, everything looks up to date, though perhaps the techs will have some more thoughts.
