Not sure if this is allready a function or not, if it is i havent found it, but if this isnt a function, i feel like it should be. Is there anyway to tag speed notes to be inserted and allready be set to a certain layer. For my work personally, drawing house plans, there are many text symbols we use on a daily basis in every single plan we draw, ie room names, closet tags, linen, framing notes, etc. Is there anyway for me to insert a speed note, say a beam size that goes on the framer layer, and be able to insert this note and it come in allready on the framer layer to where i dont have to go back and edit it manually

Hi Brandon,

I don't think you can preset the layer for Speed Notes, but keep in mind that any note (or Speed Note) that you place on a Drawing Mode only shows up on that mode. So if you placed a Speed Note on a "Drawing" mode, it would not be visible in any other mode. I have personally not found it necessary to use layers for text. The only text that gets special treatment for me is "No Print" text and that can be created with the "No Print" tool. When you use the tool it creates red colored text that will not print. Great for making reminder notes on your drawing that will not print. You can also edit any text to make it "No Print"

No, SPEED NOTES cannot be preset onto a specific layer.

However, text within a SPEED NOTE can be preset onto a specific layer. So if you create a note on the framing layer, and turn it into a SPEED NOTE, then although the SPEED NOTE is on the layer you put it, exploding it will move the text to the framing layer.

So, add all your speed notes to the drawing, right click a speed note and select ADD GROUP SELECTION, then right click again, and select EXPLODE ITEMS. ALL your SPEED NOTES will be exploded and all the notes will automatically be transferred onto the layers they were on when they were created.

Also, bear in mind that if you want notes on the framing layer, then all you have to do open that layer before adding the speed notes, not edit them to it afterwards.
