Anyone have a problem using the (Stair Headroom Clearance Hole) not boxing and adding needed floor joist?

Thanks

Rick

Yep. I don't use it often because it doesn't work as intended, and framing often is not engineered the way SP thinks it would work anyhow.

It works pretty well on straight stairs but not as well on angled.

Thanks Mark and Sam, this is the first time that I’ve had this happen. When I get some time I’m going to try it with dimensional lumber just to see if that makes a difference.

Thanks again
Rick

I don't believe it will. As far as I can remember, it works fine for rectangular openings, but not polygons. OR at least that used to be the case.
