I have an engineer requesting that I send him a DWG file from my drawings. This project is a 3 story apartment building so has multiple drawings. Now my question is: When I export to DWG file does it export the whole project or do I have to export each drawing to a DWG file separately?

If you export a drawing as a DWG it exports only that drawing.
Why don't you try exporting the plan set as a dwg, and see works for the engineer.
