I would like to show stairway up from the first floor through the opening in the second floor in plan view.  Right now all I see from second floor is white space in plan view.  Is there a way to do an overlay of some sort or do i just copy from the main floor plan?  How do I do this?

Yes -you copy the staircase to the upper floor and turn off its visibility in SoftView if you need to.

After you copy the stairs from the 1st floor to the 2nd floor, you can also Edit the stairs and go to the "Stair Option " tab. Once there place a check in the "Break" option. This does 3 things:

  1. Creates a breakline in the stairs and uses dashed lines beyond the breakline
  2. Disables the 3d display in SoftView for the 2nd floor stairs
  3. Causes the stairs to NOT report in SoftList. (The stairs from the 1st floor will still report and you'll avoid duplicate stair parts in your SofftList report)

Make sure that you set the "Reference End" (also in the "Stair Option" tab to "Top" for the 2nd floor stairs to get the breakline and dashed lines correct
