Hey All - does anyone use Softplan 2016 with Windows 10?  I'm assuming it works fine, but want to verify before diving in to Windows 10.

Thanks in advance!

~Jeremy

I've been using the combination for several months and no problem on my end.

I have windows 10 and Softplan 2016 on my home computer, and it seems to be working fine ...  a couple of issues, but they are more related to my video card than the windows 10 though.

Thanks guys.

Speaking of Video Cards - what's recommended these days for SP?  NVIDIA or Intel?  Any hints as to card SKU #'s?

I appreciate it!  My all-in-one has been great for 2 years now, but all of a sudden is acting up (had to reboot 3 times last night using power button, and softplan has also been very slow these last couple days too) - not sure what's going on...

Time for a new one I think.  Sooooo - video cards - GO!

:-)

Been using Windows 10 and SP 2016 for a while now. No issues at all!

ASUS ROG Laptop, core i-7 processor with dedicated Geforce GTX 965M graphics card.

This laptop kicks Softplan butt!

I have been very happy with my ASUS ROG!

See http://www.softplan.com/What-kind-of-Video-Card-does-SoftPlan-require.html

Personally, I wouldn't use Intel graphics ... I'd use either a Nvidia or AMD  ... I think any of the currently available cards should suffice, but the bigger and faster the better. Again, personally, I'd look at cards that include  AMD Radeon R7 240 1GB GDDR5 or Nvidia GeForce GT 730 1GB GDDR5 as a minimum.

Many thanks guys.  I'll look into NVIDIA.

Tommy - with your ASUS ROG - does it overheat at all?  How extensively do you use it?  Like 8 hours straight?  Or 12 (which I typically do - yay for adult lite...)

Last laptop I had wasn't a "gaming" machine, just a standard run-of-the-mill HP...but it overheated badly after a year or so.

THANKS guys!!

Jeremy,

The ROG series is designed with amazing fans and air movement to keep it running cool. I never have an issue with it even getting warm, and I use it every day for 10-12 hours a day, and never shut it off.

When I was looking into a new laptop, I was very cautious about just purchasing one without really doing the best job I could to make sure it would run Softplan well, especially the 3D aspects.

You will love the ROG series, because I sure do and so do others that have had them.

Asus ROG, or ASUS Computers in general .. any issues with service for hardware troubles you may have had, .. ? I've heard that product tech support is very hard to deal with.

.. invariably, someone will have a simpler solution.

I have not had any issues with my ASUS ROG that I purchased as a "blue label" from Best Buy. "blue label" means an exclusive product for Best Buy and not available anywhere else.

I just bought an ASUS ROG G751JY-DH71 at christmas with the 256gb Solid state drive and a 4GB Nvidia GeForce GTX 980M video card.  This Laptop runs so much cooler then my old Dell Studio it barely even gets warm and I use it often while sitting on the couch, like right now. The video card works OK but of course it can always be faster and the solid state HD is definitely worth the extra money. It is a heavy beast but it well worth the money.   Haven't had any issues I couldn't solve myself so no idea what support is like so I guess that says something right there. Oh ya and no problems with Win10 for me either, it's been working great for me.
