3dconnexion SpaceMouse Wireless (3DX-700043)

Love it. Smooth and slow (good thing)

3dconnexion CAD Mouse (no wireless available at this time)

3 Mouse buttons + wheel, function button and forward & back button (all programmable)

I use the middle button for navigating and wheel (push down) for on/off snap.

In 3D you can move fast with CAD Mouse and fine tune (all directions) with SpaceMouse.

Excellent for the new awesome 3D animation feature 2016. Good job SP!

It's a pretty sweet addition to softplan. Like Joseph said it makes walk throughs sweet and it's way smoother than using the #d camera to move around. Only thing I'd say is it can be a little slower than I'd like. I have the speed set as high as it goes but wish it would be a little faster sometimes.

3dconnexion is installed and working. After playing with it for about two hours this morning, I really like it a lot. Much easier to move around the interior of the house.

I have not taken the plunge yet on the 3D mouse.  Here is a video I created using my normal mouse.  It shows that the 3D mouse is not needed, but would cerftainly be an improvement.  I plan to get one eventually.

On a side note, when I created the video I changed the view angle from 45 (Exterior Shots) to 85 (Interior Shots) while recording the path.  When my machine crweated the video it used my last camera angle (85) for the entire video.  This made the exterior shots very distant.  In the future I will make separate videos of the exerior and interior then weld them together with some yet-to-be-determined video editing software.  I am very excited with the new feature of walk-thrus!

Other new features used in this video:

   Tone Mapping

   Indirect/Direct Lighting

   Niche Opening

That's really good. You have a steady hand.  If you use the Key Frame options instead of recording all your mouse movements you can get a really smooth video without a steady hand or a special 3D mouse.

Just start a New Animation.  Move your camera to different way points (key frames) and then hit the plus key on the RHS.  SoftPlan automatically calculates intermediate positions for you.

Here is a quick explanation video.

(I made a typo in it. It should say 6 Keyframes not 5)

Thanks for that tutorial!  I like that method much better than what I did.  I will try it on the next one.
