In the 3D view there is the "Material" tool. This opens a menu showing the different components of the drawing. I need to change the glazing color, and the window frame color for the openings in my drawing. Is it possible to set that here after I have drawn my openings so that all the openings will update to the right colors without needing to click on every part of each opening and paste the right color?

I do it all the time, Verlin, but it would be nice if we could choose the defaults for the materials. The next best is loading and saving the Material File which works very well

You can choose the defaults - in a roundabout manner - once you have all the materials as you want them, go to C:\SoftPlan\3D\Material Files\Default and rename the 3d.spm (which is Softplan's Default material file) as 2016 Default.spm, and then in Softplan, save the material file as C:\SoftPlan\3D\Material Files\Default\3d.spm. That way every time you open a new 3D it will open with your default materials.

If you use a few different material schemes, then once you have something you like save it as blue.spm ... red.spm ... grey.spm ... brown.spm etc. etc. and then you can load them and change all the materials to any of multiple schemes immediately. works very well.

Verlin. If you open the material editor, and click on openings (without going any deeper and choosing specific openings), you can change all the default colours for frames, sashes, glazing etc. and that will change ALL the openings in the drawing at one go.

I use the option of loading previously saved color schemes some, but need to remember to use it more often.

What do I need to do next to actually change the trim to blue on my drawing. (See attached) Not that I actually want to, because I have already changed the window colors. If I click on "OK" nothing happens.

As far as I'm aware INHERIT not being checked means that individual items at a lower level have custom colours. You have to check the INHERIT box, and then click AUTO INHERIT to revert the lower level items to the higher level INHERITANCE. The exterior trims should then ALL change to the selected BLUE.
