has anyone set something up for quicker access to your "top ten" or however many you have symbols/openings/doors you use all the time rather than drill-down method.  I know I can keyboard shortcut to anything- leaving that as worst case back up plan for now.  I have a lot of keyboard shortcuts already.  I now have enough screen real estate now that I am envisioning either (1) symbols screen to stay open all the time to a custom folder with often used items (tried this as a child window, but it still closes all the time), or (2) a pallette "on screen" of common items copied forward to each job- seems clunky, how to handle visibility when in 3d...Probably overthinking this- the menus work fine, but I just dont like wasted/redundant steps. Ideas??

I have thought of the same thing, some way to put the most used/common symbols in top of the order.  I am experimenting with creating a symbol group for each type of drawing (floor, foundation, elevations, electrical, cross sections, etc) with all the symbols i use on each of these drawings.  Then i place the group on the drawing off to one side, explode once, then use move/copy to place where I want them.  When done, just group delete the left overs.  I have not gotten finished quite yet.  I will see if it is a time saver.  I do place each symbol used in all four directions so I do not have to rotate when I move or copy them.  I did a shorten version of this for my site plans a long time ago and I know it speeds those drawing up, especially notes because I have them sized appropriately for the typical scale of a site plan.

Under System Library you are able to sort the library placing the most often

used symbols at the top of the list.

As Steve and Carla said, resort the libraries. I have done this for nearly every symbol library as well as the openings and even the paint libraries. I have the 4" horiz paint listed 1st on my Siding folder since that is what I use 90% of the time. Big time saver and doesn't take much time to set up. Do yourself a favor and sort the libraries.

Quicker than that ... if you put "DRAW SELECT" on a keyboard shortcut (mine's on "S"). Instead of using MOVE/COPY, use DRAW SELECT and draw at the right angle all the time. Much quicker especially if adding multiple items on multiple angles.

I use/create multiple symbols in the "Assembled Symbols" Library. All Bathroom items, Kitchen items, mechanical items etc. are together. That way just explode and draw select. Works well for me.

I would wish to see either a "starring" type favorite system implemented or even when I select the Symbols, not having to click inside the Text Box for starting a keyboard based search. I will use the Seach tool often but it is annoying that I have to click in that little Text Box instead of the cursor automatically being there.

What I find even more annoying is typing in a box to only find that it doesn't accept input unless you check the little box. If you are typing in a box, it should automatically check itself.
