Stefan,

Floor System Mode > Click on Erase Menu > Choose Block Cut

Draw marquee box around sill plate, click to finish.

Sill plate at cut area is now removed.

You need to stop the sill plate at the opening sides.

Sill plates do not automatically "cut" at the openings.

They should, just like baseboard does.

Also, if you use the cross opening in drawing mode, you will not only cut the sill plate, but you can tell it to drop 1', or whatever. The concrete slab usually goes over top of the footing/foundation.

Why do you have two bottom plates? Is that standard construction?

Are you putting a sill plate on the foundation wall and a bottom plate on the wall? Will the door cut this if you lower it 1-1/2"?

How is the floor slab placed?

What is the foundation wall construction? - Is the sill plate defined as part of the foundation wall structure? Typically the sill plate is added as part of the floor. This may be the cause of the added wooden structure in the cross opening.

Normally the foundation wall is 6" higher than the slab and the wall is cut 10" so that the slab runs into the opening, then the stud wall is anchored to the top of the concrete. (Although the way that cleans up is another story).

Sorry for all the questions, but there seems to be something odd going on here.

hi Keith,

foundation wall 8" concrete 4 feet high with footing (frost line !, Eastern Canada)

the slab (concrete plate) is 1 feet thick and mached to the top of the concrete wall

in this case the concrete plate is the garage floor

maybe the slab foundation has in SoftPlan different options

next on it the stud walls (mainfloor) with floorsystem, it is just a sill plate

i have defined a double stud wall, outside insulated, inside for installation (garage is an example for the bigger house)

DW/2x4&Install&2x6&Insul/RIns/Sid

thanks for all your questions is OK

Well in that case, you probably don't need the cross opening.

If the sill plate is the floor system, then as Rod said, you'll have to cut it each side of the door.

Normally a garage door frame would cut  the bottom wall plate itself - As far as I know - Set the garage door "Bottom of wall to bottom of Opening" as 1-1/2" down and see if that helps.

yes, Erase Block Cut works for the sill plate, but just for one opening !

seems maybe a SP-issue in 2014. 3.4

it doesn't work in my case, the wall plate below the garage door is still remaining

i can try everything 1-1/2" or more down

Stefan,

Can't tell for sure, but it looks like a floor (wood) system bleeding through the concrete.

That should not be.

Floor System Mode > Slab (unless structural slab needed)

Adjust Slab offset (Vertical) as needed.

By default, Softplan puts the bottom of slab on top of footing.

In Foundation Plan use Opening > Cross for the foundation wall cutout for your doors.

This cutout depth (height) may be adjusted as well.

By default it is 12"

Click on Foundation Plan

Overlay 1st (Main) floor (So you can see where to place "cross" for your doors)

Openings > Cross

Select size needed

Turn on Snap (F11) look for Delta (Trinagle) symbol in red to indicate center of opening

Left Click to plass cross in Foundation Plan

This will "cut" the plates.

Rod, thanks

all your suggestions done ! and

for test i have removed the sill plate  (mainfloor)

and removed the floor system  (foundation/ basement)

did cross opening, moved the cross and changed opening bottom etc.

please see screen shoot, cross opening appears in the left small window

but not in 3D view !!

that´s strange

Stefan,

When you remove (hide) the door(s), Softplan leaves the bottom plate as part of the wall.

Yes, there is a framed opening,  If the "opening" door is not offset down, it does not cut the bottom plate.

Defies building logic if you will.

See images.

Blue arrow shows 12" drop, 4" slab offset down 12", OH door lowered 9-1/2".

12" for cross drop 12"-4"=8", + 1-1/2" PT sill plate.  8" + 1-1/2" = 9-1/2"

Notice the Cross Drop (cutout)

Bottom plate does the same (remains/does not cut) for exterior doors when you have a floor system.

Framing Mode Wall panels show bottom plate as well.

but please have a look on this !

I opened  a new job (no copy from a old one) and

what ever happened no cross opening was necessary

don't ask me why.
