Just curious, How many people out there draw on white/black/other backgrounds?
Personally, I draw on a black background. I find the white too bright and it seems to tire my old eyes far too quickly.
What colour background do you use?

Currently using black but thinking about switching to white or something a little off white. I use Softplans review with some clients and it displays a white background and uses the screen colors from the drawings. Some colors I use with the black background don't show well when it goes to review.

I use a very light bluegrey. Personally I find it harder to read very bright text because bright tends to bleed and make lines and text less sharp. I also like the blueprint look.
..but eye sight and perception vary so much per individual that these answers will be all over the place. I have seen several people who use black backgrounds

James, I too am considering changing because of Review.
Chris, Now that light blue/grey colour I could probably live with. That may be worth switching to. The white is just to intense. Thanks.
As James said, Review does NOT like black backgrounds at all. Since I draw with some white lines, I had to switch them to grey so they would be visible at all in Review. And the yellow had to go to yellow-grey .... They are very odd now.

I use white...should really change to an off white. Used the use black back in Acad days also. Printing the print screen with black background?....yikes on the black ink/toner.

OMG this is why I like these Forum discussions - I never even gave it a thought other than the standard white background!!! Now I'm loving the change - anything other than white is a nice change of pace
Thanks again

Black. Less eye strain for me. Black in ACAD since 1994. Started SoftPlan in 2012 and could never get a black background until 2016.
Was there an option in 2012 and 2014?

Ah yes. I remember the antique 50# NEC multisync monitor I engineered roof trusses on for many years, black background was it. Text & lines were a yellowish white color. The flicker from that baby gave me many headaches...thank god those monitors are history!

I always used black on AutoCad too.
And yes, Tom, there's been an option for a black background as far back as Version 5, which was the first one I used. Don't quote me on it, but it's probably always been there.

Makes you wonder how we can complain about anything nowadays. At least we can see what we are printing before we print it like the old days of Mitek in the early 90's

I had a black backgroung with V3 & up to V9. I then changed it over to an off-white & it's worked good ever since. I collaborate with a friend that uses auto cad with a black background & it gets tricky at times. His line work dissapears into the background & you really have to hunt for them.
