I am interested in hiring a full time drafter for my home building company and would prefer someone familiar with Softplan. I am located in Eastern NC. Where should I advertise this position to best find a Softplan capable person? What should i expect to pay for a qualified person? Thanks

A couple of possibilities for you. Check your plumbers, electricians, building supply companies if they have seen any plans that they work from that indicate what software the designer uses. I put what version I created the plan on my plans. Also you might check with your local builders association and see if any designers are part of the association. Call each one listed and ask them. Also perhaps an inquiry into Softplan headquarters can give names of softplan users in the area.

This forum is probably one of your best bets if you're looking for someone who uses Softplan regularly. I have also seen ads on a wide variety of job posting sites (Monster, Indeed, Craigslist) that indicate Softplan experience is helpful or even necessary. Pay is going to vary widely with experience. Nice to see you looking for help with your projects. I believe I would be a good fit for you and could help you out.
I have been using Softplan for 24 years and I am a plus subscriber. I don't have an updated resume because I have been on my own for the last
14 years. But I can give you a breakdown of my experience.
Out of college I went to work for a floor and roof truss manufacturer.
That gave me good structure experience. After a year and a half of doing that I found a job at a lumber yard / construction company doing take off and then designing all the homes that the construction side built. I managed the inventory and designed the homes for 10 years. I even worked on site when they needed the help. I then decided to go on my own in
2004 and have been designing and working with contractors ever since.
I have worked with a lot of local builders, realtors and home owners over the past 24 years of being in the trade.

I am also a Certified Professional Building Designer and take my profession very seriously. My plans are the best in the area and that's what I strive for.

Not sure where you are in Eastern, NC but I'm an ECU grad and lived in Greenville for several years. Now based closer to Raleigh. We do stock and custom work, focusing on Universal Design.
