I posted about this before but couldn't find it. It's not only related to 2018. The problem is that at exterior openings, when you have the exterior finishes extending past the frame of the opening as is often the case with masonry, the edge of the exposed material shows up as the material used in the top exterior trim instead of the actual wall material.

Tech support after a few test was able to recreate the problem. The thing is that if you use any brick option for the header trim material, then the sides of the exposed materials show up correctly but if you use any of the other options (cast, stucco, ...), it shows the header material used.

With the brick option, the sides work correctly but the underside of the header doesn't really work properly but is less noticable unless you have a contrasting color or finish.

I've noticed it too. I was working on plans a couple of weeks ago, and the customer wanted RED trim on the Header, and it insisted on painting the JAMBS red too. In the end I didn't put the red paint on, but it was annoying.

tangent on that post Yvon; is that wall all made with materials or is the banding a solid or profile piece.  It looks really nice

Thanks Tom. It all wall materials. I tried going with the banding for flexibility but the drawback is that it's only on the surface and I had to wrap the banding around the end of the wall which takes a lot of adjustments. With the addition of the Transition Material Height in 2018, it makes using the materials a lot easier and flexible.

I need to try that in 2018 now.  Starting to see a lot of duel material walls with banding

Personally, I prefer to redesign all new walls to include specialist bands etc. The banding and profiles is great for quick mockups, but in a final version it's nicer to get it right. I agree with Tom, Yvon. Your walls look great.

I started lately using a Brick/Single texture set at 32" for the sills and Concrete Block set at 48" horizontal (to get 24" length) so that I get joint patterns instead of a continuous concrete pattern.

This issue is still with us. Generally I get round it by using a really small trim to enclose the opening, but this time, it would look wrong because of the window depth, and this really looks BAD.

I agree. I have a similar problem where I have a precast header with the sides in brick and the precast comes down around the opening.

Oops, yes that was my original post I just saw  :) Still a problem
