Is there a way to make store signs (logos) and  lettering so they show up in 3D.

The new version of SoftPlan (version 2016) has the ability to do 3d notes. Version should be available very soon. Until then your best option is to make the text in SketchUp and bring it into SoftPlan.

Yes, after creating text in SketchUp, you can export to .3ds, then import to SoftPlan using the wizard in the System Options --> Symbol Library. It's pretty straightforward, but feel free to ask if you get stuck and I can help break it down.

The easiest way is to use the jpeg of the logo as a texture, (unless you actually need the text to be 3d)

Chris is correct that a JPEG is super easy, and looks fine in many cases...

the attached signage is a simple JPEG pasted onto a 3D PLANE with TRANSPARANT and SCALE settings for the jpeg..

takes 2 minutes... FAR easier than creating / importing 3D text (at least until you are running version 2016)...

By the way Thomas, great job on that bank design, your renderings are impressive.

I will just add that to get a transparent background it needs to be a uniform color (each pixel needs to be identical) -this can easily be created in a simple paint program.
