Hiding Groups & Where's My Comma?

A little help please. 

I would like the numbers to show a comma when appropriate.  So, $11,198.00 not $11198.00.  Is this possible?

2nd Question:  How do I get the groups to disappear when they are empty?  I have "Hide Empty Groups" checked under the options tab.   Otherwise I cannot find anything else related.
