Try 'roof on bay'.

AUTO-ROOF should automatically create it!

Roof on Bay did the trick. I have to clean it though.

Did I do it right?

Thank you.

Make sure the roof pitch in the options is the same as the roof on the rest of the house,

You could also use the INSERT POLYGON EDGE command and trace round the bay with it.

EDIT ...

Neither of those options worked properly, but there again the roof on bay didn't either.

I think I have this,     Make sure the wall with front door and the right wall are the same distance in front, check that the 2 ea 45 degree walls are the same length, if not then the walls aren't right to the front.

Then trace a roof and go straight pass the 45 bumpout to the right wall, and complete the trace so it draws the roof except for the bumpout. Then I guess change the front wall to a gable.

It can be done other ways, but I adjust the front gable roof and get it out of the way.

Then use( "ADD ROOF")  by left clicking on the 3 bumpout walls, then right clicking in the middle of the 3 bumpout walls, if done right this will add  the bumpout roof.

Then edit the Gable roof edge and set the overhang to whatever you use I use 18" usually.

THen I guess you need to change the overhang on the bumpout to match the right overhang, not sure on that?

I think I have attached a picture of the result in roof mode

Don't think my picture made it

little eyebrow roof over front door I believe you can trace it, maybe , and do some adjusting to get it right.

or I think "add shed roof" could work with some adjusting

The roof is pretty easy to duplicate but the right front corner looks to be the problem.  I did traced the house and garage.  Then added wall for the bay.  Adjust to gables and such.  Use hip return to get the eyebrow over door.  Just cant figure out the clean up on the soffits.  I almost think that you need to have the back on just a little bit pulled forward from the house (so it doesnt hit at a 45 degree but turns back at 90 degrees).  Think an inch or so would do it.

maybe need the floor plan on that first post the first picture, the bumpout maybe needs to come out further?

especially if the bumpout roof needs to be at a 5/12 and peak up to the main roof

From my experience, this type of roof has 5 roof planes but it only references 3 walls. SoftPlan adds a reference point for each wall, so there are two roof planes that don't have a reference point. The two roof planes that don't have rereference points form the horizontal ridge and and taper down to a point at the gutter. These two planes usually have the same pitch as the rest of the roof when it is built, however there's no way to control their pitch except through 'hit and miss' by changing the pitch (lowering it) in the Roof Options and then using the 'Roof on Bay' command.

fun with roofs

not saying you'd want to do this but i usually will try an "auto roof"  just

to see what happens.  might get a few alternate design ideas from it

to show your client.

don't tell them it took about 1 second.

I think you would have to do the bump out like this to make all 5/12 take that look, note floor plan

You may also be able to construct the roof if you use the original plan layout, but make the front gable a dutch gable.

Adjust the depth of the gable to suit.
