Does anyone know if there is a way to change the text in the Front/Left/Rear/Right elevation generation buttons with the blue arrows in the side menu?

For example, I NEVER have my front elevation facing the bottom of the page, so I actually have to click the right (pointing left) arrow button to get my front elevation.  This is annoying and causes extra thought to ensure i am generating the correct elevation.

Any help here would be greatly appreciated, Thanks!

Not that I know. I've made the suggestion the last and present version. Hope for the next or a Christmas gift?

Since this is a place for learning, and I am always learning, I have put my front part of the building facing down at the bottom of the screen.  I have not always but rarely I have deviated from that.  I quickly looked at some the architectural books I have and they all show the front at the bottom of the page (screen).  Have I been missing something?  You put the front of the house facing right?

I'd say you're not missing anything Kevin, .. I'm like you, .. front to the bottom of page, ..

.. unless configuration of house relative to paper dictates rotating 90° to put the front towards the right hand side of page

.. invariably, someone will have a simpler solution.

I always INTEND to put the front to the bottom, but must admit that sometimes because clients have done something odd with their sketches, I've kept the designs in the same orientation as the sketches, so that they are comfortable with it.

Because of the width of lots, our houses are most of the time very narrow compared to the depth. Because of this, it's a lot easier to view on screen with the front elevation facing to the side. Also, since we use 17" x 11" sheets, it also easier to put the floor plans, elevations and section on them.

I was always taught that the north arrow should be up or to the right, never to the left or down. I've tried to stick with that overall, but often must orient a home based on what makes more sense in the sheet layout.

I usually start with the front facing the bottom of the page, then if they are too long I rotate

The elevations can be manipulated for different views on a Plan Set template or simply over-ride the labels on the elevations once added to the plan set or add your own labels.

To clarify, the request is to rename the arrows on the navigation bar?

Similar to Brad but will rotate it in the plan set (like Brent mentioned).

Typically, when I rotate a plan, I also try and rotate the sheet it's on. You can't (as far as I'm aware), have a 90 degree rotated sheet within plansets (i.e. 11" x 17" instead of 17" x 11"), so I have a title block that is rotated too. Giving the opportunity to have pages in both landscape and portrait, within the same planset.

That's mainly the reason that I would like a TRUE 90 degree rotation of plans, rather than the horrible adjustment of text and dimensions when they are rotated, that we have now.

Yes, that is correct.  Simply an issue regarding the navigation bar.

Exactly the same scenario.  I print one drawing per page, on 11x17 and because almost all homes are longer than wide, orientation must fit facing the side on a landscape page rather than portrait

It would be extra cool if the navigation for elevations was also able to be changed to follow the orientation of the North arrow in a project level. That way you could select the east elevation and it would actually be the east elevation! Is that asking too much?

At the risk of slightly hijacking this "older" thread ...

This an example of why SOFTPLAN shouldn't rotate text arbitrarily on drawings ... both of these examples are on the same drawing and both look appalling.

Couldn't agree more. Long time complaint and suggestion for this. Rotating or reversing a plan requires way to much cleanup. Notes with attributes are a pain and take away from it's usefulness

It's got to take more work (programming) to reorient these things than to leave them as they are ...
