I have a builder that would like to have areas of the multifamily units slightly darker than the other areas.  The builder wants a very small color difference in the areas and wants them transparent.  I have used hatch lines and that is not what he is looking for.  Any ideas?

Are we talking about floor area's on the plans? You could always use a Solid paint and edit it's opacity? I'd also do it as a shade paint, so you can define the areas easily.

Also possible to use "Areas". Don't know if you would have enough control and light enough but you could create a layer for it and check the "Faded box" that would lighten it evn more.

Those are all good ideas.

You could also utilize the Room Mode fill shading. It fills the rooms well and the color/opacity can be easily adjusted in Room mode.

To view the fill in Drawing mode simply enable 'Rooms' in the Drawing mode visibility settings.

In the attached sample I set the all of the rooms to a light blue shading and enabled the visibility of Rooms in Drawing mode.
