This video is highlighted on our social media pages and turns our focus to the design of outdoor living space - specifically a screened in porch. In this short 30 minute video, we cover off use of a custom wall, roof layout, as well as how Building Options can be used to show options.

i can't get the video to go so not sure what is in it.

for those that are looking for the "screen" bmp >  path shown below in v2018.

not sure what version is was FIRST included in.

3d / textures / bmps / exterior finish / openings / screen

we used to have many threads in the forum on screened in porches.

you can use a few different textures.

Daniel :  The Screen Wall is a custom built wall.  In the video, it shows the basic definition .

Randy:  Just tried the video again and seems to work.

Jim, is there a way to set the original deck posts that were deleted to appear when the "screened porch" option is turned off?  Or would the posts just have to be added back in when the option is off?

You could put then in as another option that is off with the screen and turned back on w/o screen.

Brian,

I think the best option would be to have a Building Option for a railing with posts and another for one without.  That would allow you the greatest flexibility to mix and match.

I was in northern CA so stopped in and had coffee with him on his deck about a year before his passing.  Decent guy very knowledgeable w/ SP, different approach to finding solutions.  He was the best guide while learning SP during my first year.

I totally agree.  Many times, I would post a question and he would call and walk me thru the issue (even late in the evening).  Miss his comments and suggestions.

Not many got away without knowing Randy or learning something new from him if they have been on the forum for a while. He was a guru and super generous with his time and insights. Often he would call just to check in and catch up. I was fortunate to not only learn from Randy, but also enjoy his friendship. He is a major reason I still use SoftPlan. I miss him a lot.
