Hello all. I've used the forums to research questions for years. Usually I can find an answer so I haven't needed to post anything...until now.

I'm really hoping this is a ridiculous question and that I'm just skipping a simple step.

Question:

How do you create a custom "arch" opening? Not a window, just a shape cut out in a wall. This one is a quarter round arch, but it has a bit of a leg on one side so I can't just adjust another opening. I tried creating a transparent 3D polygon to limp it by, but nope.

My real problem is getting the opening to cut entirely through the wall in the model (see attached). The front door is right behind it, so I'd like to get that actual partial view straight from the model.

Any help would be awesome!

Quick and easy, ..

Openings, .. Round top arch to spec, .. close off one side with a cube solid.

If you frequently use these, you may want to create a custom opening, .. good tutorials in the forum

.. invariably, someone will have a simpler solution.

Thanks for the response.

I tinkered with something similar for a little bit, but a custom opening would be preferred.

I've gone through the tutorials on custom windows/doors and use them quite frequently. But when it comes to a frame-less opening the tutorial steps are producing what I'm after.

Or is this something where there actually is a frame but it's texture is transparent?

I'm going to go with your solution for now, but this would be nice to know for future use. Or if there is already a post that I just missed the keyword on, I'd appreciate a link.

Thanks again!

I remember an earlier thread about an opening under a sloped staircase with a custom arch for a laundry. But I can't find it offhand.

However, I do also remember that MY custom opening wasn't open (transparent), and one created by Yvon was. I assumed I have set something that stopped my opening being transparent, but never did find out what.

I'll do a little more digging and try and find the relevant thread.

EDIT:

Okay, this was the relevant thread maybe it will help ... http://softplan.com/...ea-below-stairs

Thanks Keith!

That’s looks like it’s just what I’m after.
