I agree Tom.

It's a double edge sword.. I recently saw a Revit video, using a recent version, and all the soffits and gutters and bird box fascias are all "modeled" individually.. it's a simple rectangle roof and its a 20 minute video.. even each bird box fascia board needs to be modeled once at a time.. it seemed tedious and time consuming...
Yet, I'm sure in the end there is greater "control" with modeling each element,
. as opposed to SP approach where all those items are built into the roof definition..
But sadly the algorithms won't always work like we'd want then to..
So pick your poison I guess..

But, they could add some settings in the options and edit menus where you could control such details at a system, project and drawing level that would greatly enhance the realism and how things are actually built. I have yet to see an overhang built where the fascia and subfascia are in the exact same plane. I have yet to see a soffit built where the bottom of the fascia exactly matches the bottom of the soffit. And, most often the soffit material/texture changes direction at eaves and gables. Tongue and groove would not behave as shown in SP. These are all relatively simple things that could greatly enhance the realism and how things are actually built.

hello everyone, Im new to SP and was wondering how to create a single gable gazebo with open end gables. I see you all have created gazebos with two separate roof's, I am hoping its possible to build the same structure with just one roof. im looking for a simple four post single gable gazebo, any help or guidance is greatly appreciated! Thanks

Clayton,

If you have 2022 it supposedly will do a better job of creating such roofs. I have yet to try it, but may be worth exploring.

Well, it isn't going to be one roof without issue or work-arounds. Best thing I think is to use a gable roof and then add a gable in the other directions and adjust until you get it close to the corners. Then, cut holes from the added gables through the main gable roof. Turn off soffits and possibly adjust or turn off fascia and work with 3D solids, ceilings, etc. to get the look you want. Not as easy, but should be able to get the look.

You could also model the gazebo in SketchUp and import as a symbol if you have that program. Granted it will take longer to model it fully in SketchUp, but if you have to jump through time consuming hoops to get "close", why not spend the extra time to make it exactly how you want? Just my thoughts.
