Any reason not to upgrade to Windows 10?

I was wondering the same thing. I put in a request for the upgrade but was hoping it doesn't mess with the program.

I'm going to wait awhile and research MANY reviews before overwriting Windows 7-64.  Win7 has been my second favorite update behind XP for reliability, stability and user friendliness.  Once you install any major update it'll be very difficult to recover the previous if needed.

I certainly hope this is not a flop like Vista or Win8.

One issue that I am very concerned about is the availability of drivers for older printers. I have an HP 1055CM Plus and when Windows 7 came out, guess what, no drivers were available. I had to purchase a third party driver so that I could use my printer. It took Microsoft about 18 months before they came out with a driver. I do not want to have to go through that again.

Warren, I had that issue with my HP450, think its been out of service for 10+ years now.

Microsoft released WIn10 today, upgraders please post feedback.  I'm NOT upgrading till i know its safe!

I upgraded my laptop yesterday and Softplan worked just fine.  I only did about 15-20 minutes worth of work just to test it out.  I'm upgrading my Microsoft Surface Pro now.  I work a little more on this than the old laptop.  If I encounter any issues, I'll post feedback here.  Once I get comfortable enough with W10 on my laptop and Surface, I plan to upgrade the desktop where I do most of my work.

What are the advantages of Windows 10 v Windows 8 ?.. I'm considering the free upgrade.. I'm seeing ok reviews... and great to hear from.you guys that softplan working ok.. and the price is right!!.. but hesitant to take on the potential hassle of snags with drivers, existing apps and software, and such.. and whether the return of a start button is worth it (i never missed it).. but I'm sure there are other new goodies and functions, which I'd be curious to hear about..

the reason i did it is i've spoken with many techies and also the great majority

of articals have good things to say about it.

i hear it might be the best version of windows yet.  some really neat features.

this was mentioned by my techie and i trust him.  he's into lot's of research

before he does anything.

So I just got a new laptop, and loaded Windows 10. I had no troubles with drivers for the plotter or the multifunction printer, and everything seems to run fine.

The laptop (a Lenovo with an SSD drive and a UHD display) seems wickedly fast. But the print is so TINY! Does anybody know how to reset the type faces? SoftPlan's start menu options (where it lists the recent projects) are in a font that is less than 1/16th of inch high. I can read them, but I have to get very damn close to do it. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

I downloaded Windows 10 over the weekend and everything seems fine.  The only thing I noticed is that the printer setup window has changed some and it lost all of my custom sized pages that had been saved.  Not a big deal at all....and everything else is great.....

I have Windows 10 downloaded on the three computers I use for Softplan. I have not found any problems yet. My printer/plotters are newer models so not a problem with the drivers.

I am having a little trouble with my logitech G700 gaming mouse.  It seems to end the function when I don't want it too.  This may be a mouse driver issue and not a Softplan issue.  I am going to try out a different plug-n-play mouse before I start looking into it further.  Other then that, it is a nice upgrade.

I've yet to pull the trigger, as I have yet to hear from anyone of a new feature, or function, that would make the upgrade worthwhile for me....

I don't have a 3D camera on my laptop, so I won't see a benefit from the new windows facial recognition password feature..

so what are the other features, or functions, that you guys are liking with the new windows ? I just might be convinced to upgrade an operating system for the first time ever...

I did see that windows 10 introduces DirectX12... but I don't think that will benefit SoftPlan for this release ... perhaps SoftPlan 2018?.. ..

how are you guys digging the new browser, EDGE ?... worth upgrading for that?... better than IE, FireFox or Chrome?

If you use OneDrive be careful. Windows 10 did away with the Smart File feature.

Just got my installed this morning. Installed flawlessly. Even my old HP DesignJet 430 works.

"Microsoft edge" should be on task bar or start menu on clean install. To start the "Microsoft edge" browser, click on the Microsoft flag start button (on task bar) or hit it on keyboard. Click "All Apps" at bottom left, then find Microsoft Edge in list.

it seems that MS-edge is associated with IE-11

which comes with windows 10.

is this correct or am I missing something.

this is the only MS-edge I can find >

can't see the MS flag your talking about

except at the website below on bottom right corner
