Good Morning,
Recent request to export .spd to Sketchup. Will DWG or DXF, after
exporting , import into Sketchup ?
Thanks,
Steve

If you have SP+ you can directly export the 3D model to SketchUp. Go to the SV window, Then in the main menu on the left you can choose to export via the SoftPlan+ Publish tab and choose "Export SketchUp Model".

Mark, I am able to export 3D to SketchUp. The request from builder is for exporting the .spd files in .dwg or .dxf. to be then used in sketchup for truss design etc
Doesn't SoftPlan export directly to Mitek? Would that work for truss design?

I think exporting the 3D and allowing the timber truss guy to create the views and section cuts he wants in SketchUp is best. But, it all depends on what he is using and how you work the exports. I don't see why a DWG plan, section or elevation from SP isn't importing to SketchUp correctly. You may have to look at your export settings. And, he may want to check his import settings. It does not import the text or line styles, but he ought to be able to refer to a PDF for that information. He could actually import both and place them on top of each other for reference, then turn off visibility of the PDF when not needed.
