Hi All

We hardly ever do complete roofs using Parallel chord trusses so I was wondering what ever one else uses as that is not an option in Sp 2020 that I found?

I could use solid lumber but really isn't a great option.

i would use a Howe truss if I could make bear at two different heights.

Say I have a 20 ft span with one wall at 8 ft and the other end at 14'-8".

How would I create a Parallel chord truss?

Thanks in Advance.

Jerry

Technically it is about the heel heights and ceilings. If you get the roof and the ceiling to work, the truss technically should fit between them. You have to have the ceiling drawn before the trusses are placed. You also have to check energy heel on the roof eaves. If they do not generate correctly initially, try performing a clean up (with caution). I often find the trusses do not model correctly, so I show the space, but label it without the trusses showing in sections. If I really need a complicated truss to work in 3D I bring it in from SketchUp.

Could you use floor trusses to get the job done?

Mark and David

Thanks for your reply.

I just put a ceiling in first and then my roof with a truss set and bingo we got it.

A little bit a finicky  to close up the exterior walls and not have the trusses clean up.

Thanks guys.... Have a great weekend.
