In version 2020 I could turn off visibility of a layer and subsequently that layer would not be visible in any other drawing in the project that was using that particular template. Am I doing something wrong or do drawing templates no longer function in the same way??

Ensure that the drawing is using PROJECT OPTIONS, and NOT CUSTOM DRAWING OPTIONS.
On a related topic ... how come some people have 2022 and most of us do not?

Maybe some do not have it due to border travel/entry restrictions and supply chain issues?

Yes Keith - It was just meant to be funny - the smiley face is part of the tools we have on the forum. The thought of waiting for the disk and books to arrive in the mail in the "old days" came to mind. Then, thinking about the craziness in the world right now I felt some humor might help.
