Joseph / David...

I posted this in another thread, but LIKE the way the layer menu works now in ver. 2022..

it stays active.. and can be docked on another monitor, or as a floating menu..

I did not realize that anything needed fixing, but now I see how much faster / easier this is..

Nice little tweak / upgrade IMO.

Thomas, thanks for the tip! I tend to try and minimize or hide any menus, palettes, windows, etc... as possible when drawing, no matter which software I use. I prefer to have as much screen real estate as possible! Maybe I'll try switching it to my secondary screen for awhile.

I am having trouble reassigning dimensions to new layer. Dimensions are currently assigned to  "decks" layer(somehow). I used edit and changed one of them to new layer"dimensions" Use repeat edit and all is well. I go to draw a new dimension and it is trying to draw on the decks layer. I use draw "select" to select one of the dimensions that has already been reassigned to the dimensions layer and it still draws to the "decks" layer. Is it possible to assign a layer to a tool before it is used? Just as everything goes to default layer is it possible to have all dimensions go to a preassigned layer?

Never Mind. I figured it out.  Problem solved before it is answered. Its why I rarely post. But going forward is it possible to have a layer template and have my various drawing tools preassigned to a layer. Wall tool would automaticly be drawn  a layer "Walls". Text would be drawn a layer "Text" etc.

Robert - this was largely solved for me when they made the Layers menu floating and dockable (I prefer it on the right side). Now the layers list/menu is always visible, and it's just matter of clicking on the layer I want to draw on. SP highlights the active layer, so I always know where I am. Not that I don't forget to change layers now and then, but it is a huge help! Now if they'd just make the "group" column moveable...Capture.jpg

Quick note to add to the above - I also made the colors of all items in the system/project/drawing levels to be different from the colors in my layers. For example, in my system/project/drawing settings detail notes are pink, but in the layer settings they're pale yellow. That way, if I start writing a note on a drawing and it's not pale yellow, I know I'm working on the wrong layer.
