Attached File  directX 12.jpg   55.47KB   2 downloadsThis is a setting in DirectX 12 I've gotten to, sorta like it, this is not using Path tracing, and adding a little "Direct lighting" that works outside well and the brightness adjusts real nice, but doesn't seem to have the decay factor.

Reflect doesn't seem to slow down the build anymore.

That Lumion does put a realistic element to it.

Altho I haven't tried any single trees to have the sun or light come thru to create that look maybe. and I haven't figured out the thing with the grass within Softplan 3D to give the grass that realistic look.

This is the setting I've gotten to now and sorta like it, but have a ways to go.

Those renderings in Lumion are pretty realistic.

I haven't added individual trees to the drawings yet to see if the light will come thru and give that look.

Also I haven't figured out and used the tool that gives the grass the realistic look in site mode. That looks like it will add a nice touch to it.

The direct light, that says" Luminous LUX when you edit the light, doesn't have the decay option, is serving me well,  It can be up in air

to create a sun on the other side of the building and place some shadows, or put the light low to just add light.

Anyway, I'm loving 2022

THis is where I am with settings, with Direct X 12. but still learning the tools and lights

The Lumion is realistic looking, guess a lot of the realistic look is shadows maybe. I'm wondering what some trees to softplan 3d will do with some light shining thru the trees.

And I'm yet to figure out how to do the new thing with the grass that makes it look realistic, it's in site mode, and will try soon, but sounds nice.

The metalness has some nice effects.

This is a nice upgrade, a lot in it

Here's one of a small cottage I did in Twinmotion and another of an addition to a home just in 2022 (brought over from 2020).

This is my first 3D model using 2022. Pretty basic stuff rendered only with Software ray-tracing. Didn't spend too much time on lighting, ambience, etc. Haven't tried Direct X 12 rendering yet.

And this one was during purely in SP2020, software rendering.

Looks fun, like it,

Hoping a few people will post pictures of stuff done in just Softplan.

I'm learning about to my limit now. trying to get softlist right.

wanting to see if my Nvidia Quadro cARDS are OK and not creating me problems, that I don't understand. Due to cost I'm stuck with them for a while.

So curious whta others are producing out of Softplan

Everything you see here is done ENTIRELY with Softplan. To have a program as capable of this and use another for certain things, (I'll put my Ray Trace against any Photoshop type or other programs) Initially a lot of time, now a day max for this kind of work. I work with dual screens, plan on main and 3-d to left, I see it unfold as I draw. And trust me, many MANY tickets and talks with our great tech support in certain areas that initially for the life of me worked really funny, but I learned as I went. Banding for Water tables was one of the most difficult to get used to, just as multi level floors and placing Ref points to account fo those.
As for the renders below, if I can I'll share a drone view video in next post. You'll see actual and adjusted grades taken from Google Earth, GIS points and any available source for topo! I draw it in the renderings.

PC Specs
Gigabyte MB GA-970A-dS3 (like over 7 years old)
AMD FX-4100 (OC'd 3800) 4 core running at 4.2 gigs *MB Cache

DDR3 Dual Channel 16 gig, 1866hz

GFX - AMD - Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650 (4 gig)
Drives and other items N/A

This is a "drone style" fly around, grade and topo taken from actual property and adjusted as needed as I went, in order to produce the walkouts.
So it won't allow the video, it's too big, here are a couple additional render pics then

Here is a test I did a few months ago with Lumion 11 trial.
Both the contemporary style house and high-rises in the background are made in SP.

I had to make a snippet as the original in 8K resolution was 98MB.
GTX980Ti.

Generating texture video with DX12 is super fast!  I ran into an error while uploading to YouTube so sent it to tech support.

Anyone who doesn't have a 3dconnection mouse should get one, its great for presentations if you have the customer looking over your shoulders asking for a walkthru.

Nice walkthru....  did you do that with the 3d mouse or with the animation tool in softplan?

Looks like he used his 3D mouse on that video.

Here’s a quickie I did with my 3D mouse to make sure the customer and I were on the same page with his house.

Really nice, I just started doing the walkthrus with the 3Dconnexion, the cheapest one.

for inside I set the view of the camera at 85 to 100. the out side or factory set I guess is 60, that is perfect for outside.

Sometimes I turn off the roof and drywall, and do a birdseye view.

The 3d connexion mouse gives a lot of control of the camera, especially after i adjusted it to how my mind works.

You can turn on the lightning bolt, speed of the zoom and the 3d mouse turns it faster or unlightup the lightning bolt and it moves slower.

Carl, i bought mine about 5 years ago, and just getting to use it.  Your having bad luck with pricing everyday going up.

Wood is on way back down i believe.

The 3D mouse makes walk thrus work, And if you draw in 3D alot, it makes it easier and quicker.

Your regular mouse still works at same time, so you can just switch back and forth
