I started with the 3D navigator mouse years ago, but now I have the space mouse enterprise version and can’t imagine working on the computer without it. I love having the escape button on the mouse. You can even use the 3D mouse to scroll up and down while reading this forum.

May I suggest all the 3D mouse users on here request Softplan to setup so we can use the 3D mouse while we are working in 2D, also. I find it very useful to be able to zoom in on an area while in the middle of a function in the other CAD programs I use.

Wish I could assign the escape key to regular mouse right button, Keith i think assigned it to the spacebar.  Exiting command fast needs to be improved upon.

When you get that mouse, it is programable as to what the moves of the mouse do.

I programed mine to give me the feel that I am moving the house with it and the camera is basically stationary.

With just the reg mouse it is like the camera is looking for the  target location.

So open that desktop thing they put there and do some selections to suit your style. It took me

some trials to get it feeling right. and if you have 2 screens, it likes for you to click on the 3d screen

with the reg mouse for the 3d mouse to even work.

I'm using a Nvidia Quadro card RTX 4000, and have had one for many years. I feel like it does pretty good.

below is the look i'm getting out of just Softplan 3d.   Curious if the Quadro is holding me back any.

seems to me the important thing is getting lighting correct.

This is a video and not just a still, and not a lot of time spent on it.

Just curious, if maybe someone can post a few looks, just using Softplan program.

Generating texture video with DX12 is super fast!  I ran into an error while uploading to YouTube so sent it to tech support.

Anyone who doesn't have a 3dconnection mouse should get one, its great for presentations if you have the customer looking over your shoulders asking for a walkthru.

I gave the tech guys a written description with pics on how to get to upload, it's just a step that is needed to "bypass youtube security, due to SP certificate date!

I've always done my renders in Softplan, I spent a month just on render settings and working with ray trace. I include a render view on every cover page.
I also do "drone fly around" video views to show grades if needed.

Cover 2 (2).jpg

much of my initial interior views I leave color off, but have done many color interior renders.

Here is a link to my drone video stuff; https://youtu.be/R1Zro6uHH8k

Any of the renders you see with grading changes are done with importing Google or other satellite topo imagery.

This is how I work, plan on right render on left. This is an ad photo as you actually see the home built in the photo

What application do you select when setting up the 3D Space Mouse?   Other?

When you hit the menu button, the mouse should find what ever application you are currently in.

Carl, open up that desk top icon select settings and then advanced,   I have all of mine with the left checked, under Active. But you can reverse them.

with these checked it gives you the feel that you are driving the house in the direction to go, then inside I guess it feels like you are the camera, and walking thru the house.

Feels real natural. I see there are other adjustments, but I haven't figured out what the heck they do.

What did you use to capture the video?  Softplan or a 3rd party?

SP, 3dconnextion mouse and the <ALT> key depressed while running the e3dConneciton mouse since its too slow even when modifying the settings.

I believe there was an error during the YouTube/SoftPlan file handoff with V2022 but worked well otherwise.

This mouse give very fluid movements while recording the render path for the video.

All of these renderings look fabulous and well beyond what I have been capable of doing in Softplan... how do you manipulate the lighting to be so bright? My renderings have lots of shadows from the overhangs.
