Hi all

Does anyone know how to prevent the butt end of a ICF  wall from showing rigid insulation from wrapping around the end.

I've attached a picture.

I never notice this in any version before 2022?

Thank you all in advance

Jerrry

Not sure if they've made any option for turning it off, but recall they said they improved wrapping ends of walls when same materials are on both sides of the wall. So, best practice is to add a waterproof layer, or change the material chosen for the very outer surface on the exterior of the wall definition. It doesn't have to show up in plan or 3D, but has to be different.

Why would you want to stop it wrapping. Isn't that what they would actually do on site? Even if not, it looks finished on the plans.

Thanks for the replies.

There should be a way to turn that off.

It's a pain when butting up walls or butt end in walkout basement.

There still too many issue with 2022.

I should have waited before upgrading.

Still a great software.... user since ver 9

Thanks guys

Jerry

I'm not in 2022 yet, but if you can't change that the software has to be updated.  For Kieth, there aren't any ICF forms like that.  Until it's changed you could just add a board end where the foam is.

Yes, there is. We use Fox Blocks and they do a foam end.

Having said that, "we" moaned that blank wall ends didn't finish properly. So Softplan have fixed it. Blank wall ends now finish properly. Now we're moaning that they do finish ... Softplan really can't win can they? I don't know about you, but I draw FAR FAR more instances where I want the wall finished at the end, than I do where I don't want the wall finished. Until they do add a control ... I personally prefer this way.

Jerry - Where do you have an instance where a ICF wall just finishes in the middle of nowhere? And what do they do on site to block the end of that wall?

You could always draw a solid fill rectangle (or solid) over it, and label it as whatever you want.
