Anybody else having problems with Custom Windows that use a drawn Elevation Opening (old school, with the dashed lines to define the glazing)..

I can't seem to get the GLAZING to show up as a definable material... is this a 2022 issue?

Hi,

I have had the same issue with 2022.

The method you show has been used for earlier versions but does not really work with 2022.

You pretty much have to use an existing Elevations Opening / Shape  supplied by Softplan.

Don't Explode the shape.

You can then add lines for your grille etc. and at the - opening component - grille - choose custom for your grille (if you drew grille lines).

When you make the new opening.

This works with no issues.

Regards,

Gary

We are having the same issue at our company.  Very annoying.  I would love to know how to fix this.

Yes I had the same issue and was told by Softplan tech that was the "old school" way of doing it. Their current way of handling this is to use the Draw/Detail/Opening Shapes to create any glass openings.

While this works ok for any of the standard shaped openings I didn't know how to create these custom shaped round or elliptical type windows (as Tom shows above). And they say I need to use the Opening Shapes/Polygon and make that curved part of the opening by drawing many short segments that make up that curve. And it does kinda work. Some strange things happen if I later on the plan adjust the size of this opening but in theory that should never be necessary :)

So I am happy to see a response here from Tech that almost sounds like this might get addresses yet...

I haven't used 2022 for business yet, just messed with it outside the office, but if the glazing for custom windows is broken then that's game over for me!. To be told the "old school" method shouldn't be used and use OPENING SHAPES > POLYGON is just plain stupid. The ONLY way that's workable is if they allow completely custom shapes and edge deflection on the polygons ... and at the moment that can't be done. Glazing has to be fixed! Period.

Just a thought but can you change the dashed line scale factor to .01?  that should eliminate any dashed look in plan or elevation view.

I create my elevations 'old school' and explode views to create elevations, Have 100% control of everything.  I don't feel annotated views are usable for my work style yet...maybe in a few more releases from now.
