My company just purchased a seat of Softplan. We have been using Chief architect since 1995.

My question is why are the lumber dimensions 7.5", 9.5" and 11.5" in Softplan? Dimensional lumber around these parts are 7.25", 9.25" and 11.25".

Is there a reason Softplan uses the 1/2" and not 1/4", before I go and change them all?

Thanks,

Nope ... We use 7¼", 9¼" and 11¼" too.

I suspect that the programmer didn't know better. MOST of North America seems to use ¾" reduction by planing.

I (and probably nearly everyone else) adjusted all my sizes to suit.

I would like it if they would change defaults to this.  We change it but here and there the 5.5, 7.5, 9.5 etc get in there maybe during updates.
