Examples for using it are vague at best with the help menu finding anything about it, didn't know it existed.  I searched Notes in 2022 features and didn't find it.

Dennis hopefully someone posts back a real world example on its use and benefits.

We need to show elevation, roof snow load, ground snow load, wind loads, etc. on plan sets, so I have started using the user defined information stamps to fill in the oddities like that. Elevation is already in the other project stamps. I would personally like if we could arrange a page (in the project settings) so we have all the stamps and project information we want populated on that one page (of the project settings), organized and editable as we wish. I guess I can get that on a list of upgrades for future releases??

From your description, it sounds like these are basically an unlimited supply if information stamps?  They can be created at the system level then follow all the projects created or at a project level for just a specific project.

thanks!

Right Joe. They can be set at any level and adjusted as needed. I've only begun using them, but I bet some folks on the forum will find out-of-the-box uses for them in addition to the intent.

Mark would you mind showing an example of how you use them?  This is just not making a lot of sense to me.  Thanks!!

Sure Fred...

For us, the information we place on every title sheet is based on location for the attached screenshots, so before I would fill in each time on the title sheet itself. But now, I use the user stamps to organize it a little better and have it populate that information.

Thanks Mark...that makes sense to me now.  I currently achieve this by using building options in a radial group where only one condition can exist.  That can cause problems if I have an older project where I want to import that file and that particular building option doesn't exist.  I wonder if I send a drawing to another softplan user if the custom stamp travels with the drawing or if they would need that stamp on their system?  Thanks All!

Dennis,

That is a good question if the stamp does get included or if it gets lost when sending drawings to others. Will have to experiment with that.

I'm not quite following along. Where does this stamp get its information from? I see the info stamps in speed notes and I see the user defined notes in system settings, however where do these custom stamps get the info?

Can I use these to fill out all my code info I need on a title sheet? IE. use and occupancy, construction type, # of exits, etc?

Probably the stamp resides in the drawing library.

Todd,

I think you could do that. For the seismic and wind load I have it set to automatically fill with the most common data on the stamp, but then it can be filled out just like any other project information. Only odd thing is it is more of a list than the SP built-in stamps. I wish we could integrate it as our own customizable project information page in the project settings. I am thinking about figuring out stamps for other typical items on my title sheet and other notes where possible. I have not tried to see how much text I can add to one stamp. Maybe some other possible uses.

Fred,

Not sure I am tracking what you are asking. You still have to fill it in at the Project Level or another level. Depending on the use it may or may not be worth it. I think the ideal use is for items that are needed for every (or almost every) plan set that are project specific. When we do commercial projects with all engineers' and consultants' plans in one package I could see using the stamps to have all the title sheet contact information set as stamps. Maybe more use when on multiple sheets rather than typing the information multiple times. But, the idea is to have a border and any other typical parts of a plan set populate with information you supply only once. For the more common things that change with each job this seems to make sense.

Snow loads are specific to each property in some of the counties we work in. Others go by a chart for elevations. It can be some extra engineering. Some builders who are new to the idea get very upset that they could use a 2x10 on one job, but it has to be 11.875" TJI 560's on another, etc. The idea of someone using what was engineered for one project on another site is also more concerning.
