Okay, every time I think something should be straight forward, it isn't.

I want to draw a decorative shed ( standing seam ) roof over a window on a gable faced wall.

Why is the program choosing to draw the roof at the height it is? I can not see where that is specified.

I am guessing it has something to do with the loly pops referencing a wall. I used trace roof to create the roof and specified a intersect with vertical pitch at the wall.

How else can you create this roof and why can't I just move this roof to what ever height I want it?

I need help :)

As Sam said, you have to give it something to reference to. Even if that something is hidden and not extracted in the 3D.

Hidden beams are often the best way. Always other options. You can edit the lollipop on the outer (low eave edge) and adjust the heel height if it is referencing the wall or whatever it is attached to.

Thanks for all of your help.

Even when I was doing everything the way all of you suggested, the roof was still come out wrong. It was at the wrong height, not really associating with the beams, the gutter floating at the height the roof should have been. Just weird. I drew other roofs on the main floor just as experiments to make sure I was doing it correctly and I had no problems.

So I submitted a ticket to see if SP could tell me what I was doing wrong and it was as simple as checking off the regenerate box in the edit roof window. It all work flawlessly now ( other than having to do clean-up after every move).

I just thought others may be helped knowing when all else fails, check "rengerate or clean-up"

On ward and upward until the  next issue ;)
