Hi,

Is there a way to modify the windows in the 3D Textured model view so that they do not show any of the interior?

Thanks!

Katia

Here's one way. Edit the Surface of the Glass(Glazing). Change it to the settings of my screenshot. You'll have to repeat edit all of the windows that are not the same. I think it was Keith Almond that had a post on this.

I'd change it to 100% opaque.

If you go to the material editor and choose OPENINGS and glazing, you can change ALL the glazing opacity in one operation.

Thank you everyone!

Keith, where do I find the material editor? I am unfamiliar with this form of editing in Softplan, but it sounds very useful!

Thanks

Katia,

There's almost zero chance you have your toolbars set up the same as I have - I refuse to use the HORRID ribbon bar - so you may have to hunt a little ...

In the 3D window the MATERIAL EDITOR is a multicoloured square (or at least it is in 2020 - We've been so busy we haven't had chance to load 2022 this year) ... You should also be able to select it from the menu bar ... OPTIONS > MATERIAL

if you click it then SELECT openings - don't go any further down the directory - and click on the glazing texture

Then change to the Lighting tab and change the opacity to 100%

It will then change ALL the glazing in ALL the openings to the selected settings.

If you want to change settings on a specific opening independently, you can go down the directory and choose the specific window this way too.

Keith,

Thank you, I found the editor both ways you explained.

I have come up with another hiccup however. My Exterior Finish Textures does not display the Glass option like yours does. So now I am wondering why I don't have all the materials....

You're probably using a white texture to depict clear glass. There probably is a texture there ... try changing it to be sure - either way you can change the opening texture to anything you want in that box. As far as I'm aware there isn't a standard glass texture in Softplan. Over the years I've made a few different textures to represent glass.. I use either a dark navy blue or a custom sky texture in my windows these days.

I contend that a window on a normal day with no room lights generally shows almost black ... certainly not clear.

Ah yes, that is what was there. Good to know you created that glass texture and I wasn't missing something! I will play around with that now as well.

Thank you for all the help! I greatly appreciate it.
