Hello,
I would like to show a person in an exterior elevation to give my customers a sense of scale. How can the person symbol inserted into the drawing be made visible in the exterior elevation?
Thank you,
Craig

Edit the person symbol, and put a check in the box EXTRACT IN ... ELEVATION.

As Keith was saying, you will need to set the symbols(s) to extract in Elevation.
To do that directly from the drawing, edit the symbol on the plan, Go to Definition and set the Extract in: Elevation flag.

Thanks for clarifying that Brent, I forgot to specify you're editing the definition of the symbol, not the symbol itself.

Brent / Softplan,
Why aren't all 3D elements set by default to extract in 3D views, elevations, and sections?
I would much rather turn something off that I don't want showing up, than having to edit a symbol every time I need it to show up in one of these.
I am sure there is a good explanation, such as it would be a CPU resource deficit, etc.

The algorithms used to generate a line drawing for elevations, interior elevations and cross sections must take into account every surface generated in the model regardless of whether you see it or not. Limiting the number of surfaces to those that are relevant to the given view will reduce the time needed to generate those drawings.
We do our best to delineate which items are considered part of a typical Elevation, Cross Section, Interior Elevation or 3D and set the flags accordingly for the items.
That said, the default settings can be modified to your own needs.
