I have a simple addition to a rather large structure, the addition is small. What I'd like to do is draw my addition, then in elevation, and maybe plan mode, show my addition against the existing house. The homeowner has provided a PDF set of plans of the house when it was built. I have no intention of using the plans for anything other than their addition and it will save the client some money if I don't have to re-draw the structure. Any ideas?

Can you import the PDF into your drawing as shapes?

I assume you are a PLUS subscribed ? when a project is opened, open the file menu and scroll to Review and there import the PDF as a shape...after importing to a new SP drawing sheet, on the layers menu, set the drawing to FADE and then you can very quickly draw the outline with softplan ....I just did this on a 25 thousand Sq Ft house in DC....worked very easy and quick.

One issue with a PDF from another program....Line thickness....man, the line thickness some programs use is simply amazing...over an inch thick...I had to develop a new wall defination to get things to line up properly...
