I don't know how many people have seen this but I thought I would post the link here. Published by Softplan a week ago.

In all the other softwares I've used, when drawing an object, you are allowed to enter a number for the desired distance while drawing the object. Softplan has the sketch and revise distance paradigm which I find useful for a number of operations. I do find it problematic to move the cursor an exact distance on a number of occasions. Seems like I'm always 1/16 over or under. When I know the exact distance involved for an operation, I think it is an extra step to revise the distance value after drawing the object. But you can do direct entry of numbers. I'm happy.

Softplan has had that ability ever since I can remember. I'd say ALWAYS, but that might not be correct.

I wasn't aware of tis capability before seeing the video. I've never seen it in any of the training videos. However, I'm new to Softplan so still discovering things.

Is this a legacy thing? In my efforts to learn Softplan, I've looked at a lot of videos, read the manual and looked in the help file. I've never seen this method documented except for the video published last week.

I have had SP since at least 13.4 and I don't know what you are talking about or how to use it, so don't feel like the lone ranger.

What we are talking about is the ability to draw accurately using the keyboard.

For example a 5'-0" x 5'-0" box can be drawn with lines (or walls) by using the following keystrokes:

L (line) HOME 60 → END 60 ↑ END 60 ← END 60 ↓ END ESC (or you can use 5- (5') instead of 60)

Rather than drawing 4 lines dimensioning them and editing the dimensions.

Similarly, moves etc, can be done the same way.

Keith,

I believe you need to substitute the HOME key where you have listed the END key.

Thank you Philip ... It's a memory thing, I remember using FROM - TO - TO - TO using HOME and END. Long time ago ... Should have been on a Softplan computer to test it

Here's a YouTube video for keyboard entry.
