Ha Ha Steve I've kind of hyjacked your thread, sorry.

That's very interesting Yvon, where are these pics from, are these available in Ontario?  This info will be helpful in the future.  Nothing worse than telling a client they can't have something because it doesn't meet code only to have them come back to with a version that is acceptable.

OK, how do you get the rail and spindles to follow the treads?

Pick outside railing and then  pick the railing in 3D to modify to suit.

Thanks Yvon hopefully I can find this bookmark when I need it.

Anthony, that colour phenomenon happens regularly to me too - but ONLY on spindles. SURFACE COPY/PASTE doesn't seem to work. As you say the only thing that seems to work is exit and reload.

It appears that going to the COMMON tab, and pressing PERFORM ITEM CLEANUP will fix it too.

you can go into

system options / finishing options / railing options

and rename the railing with a color that you'll have to put on

a railing.  once their set,

you can change the railing finish on your drawing to

a number with a color in the name.

like -  railing 6 - white

i can't remember the exact procedure.  i did it a while ago

and it is a little confusing but once you do one,  you'll get the idea.

Thanks Randy I've done that with areas before too and had it nicely set up and then the next version of softplan came along and wiped it out so I never redid the set up.  With the new update procedure, which worked super slick, maybe I'll start that type of customization again and it won't get wiped out. This was really a problem with the surface colour or texture not updating properly.
