I had the same problem myself recently. Section Line Marker ID - SoftPlan 2022 - SoftPlan Users ForumI did some cross section drawings and accidentally deleted the section lines which removed my marker IDs. I ended up placing new section lines with the correct letters and generating new cross sections. Then I erased the newly generated cross sections and pasted my old drawings into them. Totally impractical but I couldn't find a solution either. Seems like that would be something very simple to implement.

At the simplest level, I want the numbering to be numbers in one direction and letters in the perpendicular direction. SP doesn't allow this.

My solution is as follows -

Draw all your SP section lines on a separate layer.

Place a section line symbol of your creation on another layer aligning over the SP section line. Edit to get the desired numbering system.

On your sheets, turn off the SP section line layer.

Edit the section title to reflect your section line symbol.

So... a few hoops to jump through but you can get the look that you want.

This is one case where SP's implementation doesn't allow editing to produce a conventionally compliant solution. I think this should be fixed.

Kris, why bother with layer for the section lines, you can turn off the visibility of section lines independently anyway in OPTIONS > VISIBLE ITEMS.

Maybe this has already been solved, but I had the same question, here's my 2 cents. If you delete a section cut, answer "no" to renumbering, then redraw the section cut (I changed a straight cut to a polyline) it gives the new cut the same number as the one you deleted. I would think that by strategically deleting and redrawing one at a time, you could get the numbering the way you want it. And BTW, I do put all sections cuts on a separate layer - with the layer panel docked on the right side of my workspace, it's easy to click it on and off w/o going back to the options menu.

I would like to see the same functionality and simplicity we have for assigning Opening ID's to Interior Elevations and Sections. It would be nice to have the ability to control the main number, but still have the options to where it asks you to re-order your section lines. If a user inputs a duplicate number, the software can notify you (just like windows tells you that you have a duplicate file name) and prevent you from assigning the section/interior elevation with the same character, ask you if you want to re-order numbers by shifting the whole set, or an override function to where you can have the same ID as another section (that isn't practical but Openings allow you to do so, it's more so to explain the same user functionality and process). This will also allow us to assign both letters/numbers to sections/interior elevations for greater flexibility.
