How does one import 2d billboard people from sketchup warehouse or other sources? I tried using the same method as 3d imports, but it didn't take.
Also, any recommendations for a source of high resolution 2d images?
Thanks,
Paul

Paul,
To create a billboard symbol you would draw a plane (DRAW > SOLID > PLANE) the size that you want the final billboard to be - say 5'8" x 1'10" or whatever to suit the aspect ratio of the particular JPG.
Then create it as a symbol. CHECK the LINK TO 3D SYMBOL box and link it to the 3D Symbol Folder SHAPE and the 3d symbol 36 X 36 VERTICAL PLANE.DWG. Then add the relevant JPG as a texture on to that plane.
To use a JPG as a Texture it must be located in the C:\SoftPlan\3D\Textures\Bitmaps directory, or a subdirectory of it, otherwise, you cannot navigate to it in the texture editor.

One note .... in the Softplan folders that exist, it appears that all the BMP's have a blue background, and all the JPG's have a Black background. The PNG's show white, but I am assuming that they are actually transparent. PNG supports transparency where JPG and BMP does NOT. So background may be important.
I haven't tried to create a billboard symbol, so there may be some issue that you have to work round.
